Costa Calida

Costa Cálida: an idyllic place to live by the sea

Can you imagine waking up every morning to the sound of the waves and the scent of the Mediterranean? Would you like to enjoy a warm and sunny climate all year round? Are you passionate about water sports, Mediterranean gastronomy and nature? Then you have to get to know the Costa Cálida, a unique and surprising destination that offers you everything you need to live happily.

The Costa Cálida is the tourist name for the approximately 250 km of coastline of the Region of Murcia, in Spain. This region has a microclimate that is characterised by more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year.

But if there is one thing that makes the Costa Cálida special, it is the Mar Menor, a coastal saltwater lagoon considered to be the largest in Europe. The Mar Menor is an ideal place to practice all kinds of water sports, such as sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddle surfing or kayaking, thanks to its calm and shallow waters. In addition, the Mar Menor has therapeutic properties due to its high salt and mineral content.

La Manga: a paradise between two seas

One of the most emblematic places on the Costa Cálida is La Manga, a strip of land some 24 km long that separates the Mar Menor from the Mediterranean. La Manga is a popular tourist destination for its fine golden sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and its wide range of services, shopping and leisure facilities.

In La Manga you can choose between bathing in the Mar Menor or in the Mediterranean, or both on the same day. You can also play golf at one of its prestigious golf courses, or go diving at Cabo de Palos, where there is an important marine reserve with a rich biodiversity.

Gastronomy: flavours of the sea and the vegetable garden

Another of the attractions of the Costa Cálida is its exquisite gastronomy, based on the products of the sea and the rich market gardens of Murcia.

You can't miss the local wines, such as those from Jumilla or Yecla, or the traditional liqueurs, such as café bombón (coffee with condensed milk).

Golf: a sport to enjoy on the Costa Cálida

If you are a golf fan, the Costa Cálida is your ideal destination. Here you can play your favourite sport on a wide variety of top-quality golf courses, among which the following stand out:

  • La Manga Club Resort, a luxury complex with three 18-hole golf courses
  • Hacienda del Álamo, the longest golf course in Spain
  • Roda Golf & Beach Resort, with a private beach
  • Nature: a treasure to be discovered on the Costa Cálida

The Costa Cálida not only offers you beaches and golf, but also a wealth of nature that will surprise you. You can explore its natural parks, where you will find everything from mountains, forests and rivers, to salt flats, dunes and volcanoes. Some of the most impressive natural parks of the Costa Cálida are:

  • Calblanque Regional Park
  • Sierra Espuña Regional Park
  • Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar Regional Park
